There is no single approach to teaching music. Each child has their unique way of learning, and that’s what makes each lesson different. With the help of the parents, I determine the goals of both the parents and student, and recommend the best way to achieve those goals.
Students who want to learn for fun explore musical styles, rhythms and popular music. Parents and students who are looking for a more structured, disciplined course go through lessons based on the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum. The RCM curriculum also gives the opportunity to take formal exams if interested. My students are well prepared and confident when taking exams and I communicate openly with parents to ensure a successful pass.
I encourage all my students to enjoy the music they make and to have fun doing so! I focus on technical skills and artistic development to make sure my students build a strong foundation. By understanding the musical elements of each piece they learn, students play proficiently and bring the music to life.
